How To Clean Interior Of Vw R32
Volkswagen Golf R32 mkiv – Major Pigment Correction Item
I was invited over by Jonny from Pure Detail once again in the North W to lend a helping paw on the Golf. It was booked for his "purest" particular; a wheels-off, full interior, engine bay and major paint correction.
On the first day Jonny had deep cleaned the car in readiness for my arrival early Thursday morning – Thurs & Fri were spent machine polishing and so the interior, engine and arches etc tackled last thing Saturday morning.
Afterward a 5am start and a two hour journey, I go far at PD HQ:
Although it hasn't got many miles on the clock (~35k), the Golf paintwork was rather driveling! Two words, 'car launder'.
It was obvious we're going to have to go aggressive with this one.
My starting time before/afterwards on the bonnet:
2 hard hits were required with FastCut+ and Ultrafina on a foamed wool Lake Land pad to get the desired results.
Jonny testing the Lake State wool pad before moving onto his own Meguiars wool pads:
After I'd corrected the North/S quarter of the bonnet with wool, I stepped downwardly to a foam polishing pad with Menzerna 203s to refine the terminate further.
50/50:
Working my style down the Northward/S.
Earlier/after:
Wing/door 50/50:
Before/After:
The big wool pads are all well and good but you're unable to become in close to console edges etc. Further correction had to be made with the 3M compounding spot pad ensuring every area was defect free.
Before (where the wool pad wouldn't accomplish safely)
And after with the spot pad work:
A nice 50/l on the N/S rear door:
Probably the worst expanse on the auto was the roof. Riddled with defects but several scratches that were far besides deep to remove.
General before and afterward:
50/50 on the rear quarter showing how much colour & clarity is lost when your car'due south covered in swirls.

Again, on the rear quarter, a earlier/after:
Clarity and gloss restored:
Due north/S finished – working my way round the bootlid:
Afterward with halogens:
Afterwards without halogens:
After with the Brinkmann LED inspection lamp:
Bumpers desperately scuffed too. More wool compounding required.
l/50 low downwards on the sill:
Jonny finishing off the backend:
Due to the immense build upwards of grit and smooth residues, the car was jetted downwards outside and brought back in for drying.
Engine bay dressed:
Interior wiped and a hoovered. Paintwork IPA'd and protected. Glass cleaned. Tyres & arches dressed. Pretty much finished!
Quite a transformation! A stunning color to piece of work on (Deep Blueish Pearl). Lovely.
Thanks to all those involved.
Jim
