  1. I got some NIW M1 Carbine mags with cosmoline goo all over, inside and out. I tin clean the outside but don't know how to become to the inside. In that location's no intuitively obvious way to disassemble them. Assist.
  2. WD-40 and/or automotive brake cleaner piece of work just fine:cool:
  3. Im not familiar with your mags, only you can ever soak something in mineral spirits for a day or two and that will remove cosmoline.Simply swish em around in one case in a while.
  4. A. brake cleaner and wd-twoscore works well for the actively inclined...spray it until information technology runs clear

    B. mineral spirits works improve for the zen folks or if you have a large quantity of mags to be cleaned.
one. spirits in a bucket or pan enough to cover the mags.
two. insert mags and allow them sit, to break down the grease
    3. allow time to pass
    4. agitate to loosen any stuburn stuff
    5. allow fourth dimension to laissez passer
    6. have them out
seven. blow them dry with an air hose
    8. remeber to relube

The only M1 Carbine mags I have here in the office are one-time GI, all the same in wrappers--
    I unwrapped 1, just for you.:p

At forward end of the base of operations plate, at that place is a little half-moon shaped indention. This is to go on the plate from sliding forward.

Insert a knife blade or the like between front of base of operations plate and trunk of the mag. This lifts the little indentation clear of the body.

Apply another blade at rear of base plate, ur a small pin dial thru hold toward rear of plate (not sure they all have this hole) and slide plate forrad and out of date with the folder lips on bottom of the torso.

Use due care to capture the leap every bit the plate clears the lips on the bottom. Jump and follower come correct out the lesser of the mag body.

Removal of the gunk: Every bit others accept suggested higher up. Big bristle brush with solvent works okay.
Heavy duty soap and warm water piece of work even better--I like Uncomplicated Green or Industrial Purple TM, properly diluted. Rinse throughly, and lube very lightly before reassembly.

Don't forget sides of the follower and the spring itsself.

    Best,
    Johnny
